On behalf of the Church Commissioners, we undertook a research project into finding a new home for the 1930s German refugee artist Hans Feibusch’s important cycle of murals Pilgrim’s Progress (1944) in the crypt of St. Elisabeth’s Church, Eastbourne. Contacting a large network of specialist curators, architects and interested parties throughout the country, we attracted a great deal of attention to the issue and succeeded in obtaining expressions of interest in securing the future of this important work of art. The murals have subsequently been removed by the Feibusch Progress Project for conservation prior to re-siting in East Sussex. www.savethemural.org
